Best Paint Brush Set For Artists

The top trending paint colours for spring/summer have been revealed, with nature-inspired hues of green, beige and grey leading the way.

With households dabbling in more DIY as a result of nationwide lockdowns, the team at MattressNextDay analysed UK Google searches for 34 of the most popular paint colours from Farrow & Ball, Dulux and Little Greene to find out which ones we'll be seeing more of.

Taking the winning spot is Farrow & Ball's Purbeck Stone — a clean, understated mid-grey hue that resembles the colour of stone found on the Isle of Purbeck. Farrow & Ball's Jitney and Green Smoke took the second and third spots, respectively, both rising in popularity among homeowners.

While Farrow & Ball dominated most of the list, Dulux's Pressed Putty also made an appearance, scooping fourth place. With a natural, pink-like finish, it's the ideal hue for a bright bedroom, hallway, bathroom or study.

"Often when picking a paint colour for their home, many people play it safe and pick a neutral colour, as they're too overwhelmed to choose something different. However, particular colours have psychological impacts so taking the time to pick a colour which not only looks good but makes you feel good is important, too," Martin Seeley, CEO of MattressNextDay, says.

"That's why it was refreshing to see that the majority of the paint colours we've predicted to be big this spring/summer, are inspired by nature. After spending so much of the past year indoors, our research found that interest in green and brown coloured paint is on the rise."

Take a look at the paint colours on the rise...

Adding a bunch of flowers to your dining table, chest of drawers or console table is such an easy way to boost the mood of a room, but the cost of your weekly bouquets can soon add up. Opt for an (equally lovely) dried version instead and enjoy them for far longer.

Why's it eco?Rather than buying a fresh bunch every week (and all the plastic wrapping and intensive farming that involves) these should last for at least a year, so long as they're well cared for. A worthy investment.

Why's it eco?So the materials themselves may not have any extra-special sustainability credentials, but being able to pop all of your food waste in here rather than your rubbish bin helps to reduce the amount of waste going into landfill and put it back into your garden instead.
